I’ve had a ton of different grills and I’ve never been happy with any of them – they don’t seem to sear the meat like I like them – I had an Australian one once which was good, the burners were closer to the grill. Can anyone recommend the best BBQ grill, propane or charcoal?

I am split. On one hand Propane comes from oil refining- a non-renewalable energy source, Charcoal comes from trees-Renewable, so it would seem easy.
But… Propane is a by product of oil refining so as long as we make gasoline we will have propane, so why not use it. But to make Charcoal we have to cut down trees, which seems very wasteful, plus trees are very important to keep the air clean.
It would seem to me that Propane would be the "greener" energy source. What do you think?
I bought a weber grill that is set up for natural gas and I need it to work using propane. I wanted to just take off the natural gas hose and attach a propane hose and regulator, but weber said I couldn’t do that.
