BBQ Chicken Recipe

Chef Jason Hill of www.CookingSessions.com shows you make a delicious and easy BBQ chicken recipe in this episode of “Chef Tips.” After visiting the North Shore’s roadside huli huli chicken stands, Jason heads home to the chicken to share his version of Hawaiian BBQ chicken. First, prepare your BBQ chicken marinade the day before you plan to grill. Though you can prepare this as a BBQ rotisserie chicken, the results are more flavorful when you cut chicken into pieces. This recipe for BBQ chicken uses a flavorful marinade that includes brown sugar, honey, pineapple juice, sesame oil, fresh grated ginger and crushed garlic. When cooking BBQ chicken, consider using a smoker box. For authentic Hawaiian BBQ, use kiawe wood (known in America as mesquite chips). Once the honey BBQ chicken sauce has soaked into the meat overnight, remove from the refrigerator and cook over high heat, skin side down, turning a couple times. Then, move to the low burner and shut the lid, where it will slowly cook and smoke for about 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 F. The smaller pieces will cook more quickly than the larger breast pieces. Serve this with your favorite mac salad, cole slaw and white rice. Go to http for the full printed recipe.

We give the Weber Genesis E320 our nudge as the top grill, read on to find out why.

A must-have for summer entertaining, this propane-gas grill provides a 507-square-inch primary cooking area and a 130-square-inch warming rack for a total of 637 square inches of cooking space. The unit’s three, main, stainless-steel burners and 42,800-BTU-per-hour input make it easy to cook-up everything from steaks, pork chops, chicken, and fish to veggie burgers, shish-kabobs, and slices of fresh pineapple. The grill also supplies porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates that effectively retain heat and create delicious sear marks; porcelain-enameled Flavorizer bars to help ensure excellent results and reduced flare-ups; and an Electronic Crossover ignition system for ease of use.

Beautifully designed, this barbecue gas grill features a porcelain-enameled shroud with a center-mounted thermometer and accent-colored painted cast-aluminum end caps; an accent-colored painted steel frame; and an enclosed cart with corresponding painted-steel doors, stainless-steel handles, and accent-colored painted side and rear panels.

Bbq Apron – A Chefs Best Friend

Arranging a barbecue party is great fun, but don’t forget to use a barbecue apron. The last thing you want is to cover yourself in meat juices and sauce.

There is a wide selection of barbecue aprons to choose from. You should make sure you get one that is flame resistant and machine washable, most are but just double check to make sure

Barbecue aprons come in nylon, cotton, polyester canvas, and leather in a range of colours, some with pockets in front to hold your barbecue utensils and accessories.. If they are coloured make sure they are colour fast.

For those of you who enjoy the thrill of the barbecue grill, you may like an apron with a brand name like Weber which has a logo in front, a sign that you take your barbecuing and grilling seriously! In red, this apron conceals grease splatters and sauce drips best, and is made of sturdy, cotton twill.

Or if you are forgetful….

A ‘BBQ apron with retractable oven mitts.’

If you can never find the oven gloves when you need them, an apron with a pair of heat-resistant mitts permanently attached could be just what your looking for.

When you need to turn over your steaks on a red-hot Bar-B-Q or get a casserole out of the oven, simply insert your hands into the mitts. And when the job is done, remove your hands and the mitts zip back to the apron, just like magic.

If you want to add a bit of extra fun you can find a variety of specialist novelty barbecue aprons with humourous slogans, and you can of course make your own using a basic BBQ apron with iron-on letters and images.

You can find more about BBQ aprons at Barbecue Party, a leading BBQ resource that includes daily news updates, competition schedules, BBQ recipes, product and restaurant reviews and much more.

Everything seems tastes better when you cook it on the grill. From corn on the cob to rotisserie chicken, your grill can cook almost anything, as long as you have the right accessories. Here is a list of some useful outdoor cooking accessories for your favorite grill. Pick up a few of these products and expand your grilling repertoire.

Adjustable grill toppers let you expand the real estate on your grill racks while keeping small foods from slipping through the rack onto the coals. The adjustable grilling rack is designed to keep burgers and vegetables from dropping onto the coals. It expands from eight to fourteen inches wide so that you can customize the amount of space that it takes up on the grill, leaving part of your rack free for grilling pork-chops and steaks.

A grill-top saucepot and griddle pan allow you use the heat of your grill for more than just grilling. High quality carbon steel pots are designed for cooking on your outdoor grill. The 2-quart deep-dish griddle is ideal for searing and blackening fish, pork-chops, and steaks. You can also use it for frying chicken. The sauce and bean pot lets you heat sauces or simmer your chili alongside your beans and burgers. Both feature non-stick dishwasher safe surfaces, and riveted loop handles for easy lifting.

Flip up to four burgers or six sausages at once with these nifty grilling baskets. The heavy wire baskets close around burgers and sausages, keeping them securely in place. The long wooden handle makes it easy to flip the whole passel all at once. This helps prevent your food from burning over the hot coals. You can also use these for grilling vegetables and other smaller pieces of food that might slip through the rack and onto the coals.

If you are looking to keep your food on the grill instead of on the coals, a Grill Grid is even better at it than the baskets. The non-stick grid is designed to sit on your grill rack while keeping mushrooms, peppers, onions, and shrimp from dropping through the rack and sizzling away on the coals below. In addition, it has a nice flared edge so that foods do not roll off the edge, and comfort-grip handles so that you can easily transport the entire griddle from the grill to the table.

You can grill a chicken with a vertical roasting pan designed to let you grill your meal at once. The unique design features a center cylinder that you can fill with beer, wine or any other basting product. Once it is full, slide the chicken over the top, arrange your vegetables and potatoes around it, and then put them all on the grill. Your chicken roasts on the outside while the inside bastes itself, and the delicious juices drip down into the pan to provide added flavor to your vegetables and potatoes.

Try a Reversible Rib/Roasting Rack. Stand it on one side, and it becomes a rack that is large enough to hold a chicken or a rib roast. Flip it over, and it has a unique rack designed to hold a rack of ribs upright for even cooking while conserving grill space for other foods.

Keep all of your barbecue tools handy and organized with a 25-piece barbecue kit that includes everything you need to cook on the grill. The handy canvas roll pack closes with hook and loop closures and holds a spatula, meat fork, serving spoon, paring knife, chef’s knife, bread knife, plastic cutting board and a wine & bottle opener along with a full set of flatware, including steak knives. It is the ideal gift for the griller on the go, ready to pick up and haul along for trips to the park and tailgating at your favorite game.

Portability and organization are important when you are grilling and eating outdoors. One of the handiest “tools” you will find anywhere is a Wicker Picnic Organizer. The seven compartments are sized just right to hold flatware and cutlery, napkins, plates and condiments so that you can easily move them in and out of the house for picnics and cookouts.

Keep your food safe from the bugs and other annoyances when you are eating outside with a Food Tent. They come in a variety of sizes to cover one dish or your whole picnic table. The mesh tents pop open like an umbrella and sit over your food to keep the bugs and pine needles away, and then collapse flat for storage.

There are many products available to make grilling outdoors easier. The main annoyances are food falling through the grill, bugs, and cooking space. There are products that you can purchase that solve these problems allowing you to have an enjoyable BBQ. Enjoy the warm weather in style with these useful products.

Best Charcoal Grills Under $100

So you’ve just moved into your new Chicago condo and have a great patio, balcony or terrace just waiting to be used. As long as your building permits it, the summer tradition of barbecuing may be high on your list of things to do this summer. A lot of Chicago real estate, including some of the lofts listed here http://www.bestchicagocondos.com/lofts/index.html already have rooftop building space designated for grilling. Other units may have gas hook-ups already in place and waiting for you to install a gas grill. But some traditionalists and hard core barbeque fans will say that charcoal is the way to go.

With that in mind, along with the fact that many may be on a budget, shopping for a good and reasonably priced charcoal grill is a priority. You could easily spend a couple of hundred for a gourmet grill, but as long as the basic structural details are met and the materials used aren’t cheap, you can save your money for some great cuts of meat instead. For less than $100 you can buy a charcoal grill that you can use for more than one season on your condo balcony or back patio, provided to take care of it and don’t leave it uncovered in the weather.

There are a few basic styles of charcoal grill. Kettle grills are probably the most common and they actually do resemble a large kettle. Round in shape with normally three or four legs, they are the great for grilling almost any typical meal. The four legged ones often have wheels on two of the legs so that you can easily roll them to another spot. They also often have a small fold down wooden side rack that is handy for sitting plates of food or utensils.

There are also variations on the kettle grill often called portable grills. This style is smaller in size with a more round, flat shape, shorter legs and often no closeable lid or top. They are great for a quick burger or hot dog and are usually very inexpensive, although sometimes don’t last as long structurally.

There are rectangular shaped charcoal grills that look a lot like typical gas grills. These grills are often made from heavier metals, sometimes cast iron, and have more grilling surface and greater control over cooking temperature, etc.

With those basic styles in mind, here are a few specific charcoal grill examples with the average price that they are selling for in 2008.

The Weber One Touch Silver kettle grill is a really nice grill for both beginning grill chefs and experienced BBQ masters. The actually grill measures 22.5 inches and will hold about six steaks, a dozen hamburgers or two dozen hot dogs. As with all good kettle grills, the rounded shape reflects heat back inward fairly evenly for great cooking. This grill is made from steel and is porcelain covered to prevent rust and paint peeling. It has three legs with wheels, aluminum vents and ash tray plus nylon handles. The ashes sift into a tray that is easily pulled out and emptied. Prices on this grill run from about $65 to $100.

Another great Webber grill is the Go Anywhere Charcoal Grill. This smaller charcoal grill is constructed from steel and coated with porcelain and has three nylon handles. The grate is made from heavy duty plated steel and the legs pivot and lock to make carrying easy. You can fit a lot of food on the 160 square inches of grilling surface. The Go Anywhere is priced at about $45.

The Old Smokey Barbeque Grill comes in three sizes, but all are made with the same high standards. These grills have shorter legs so you can sit and grill if you get tired of standing and is deeper so that the charcoal fire isn’t as close to the meat. This allows meat to cook through without burning on the outside. The body of the Smokey grill is made from aluminized steel to help prevent rust.

The Small Smokey is great for someone to take on trips or for someone who is only grilling for two or three people. It is very inexpensive at about $35.

The Classic Smokey is a good size for cooking for four to six people. It measures about 27 inches tall with an 18 inch diameter. The Classic runs about $47 to $50.

And for a big appetite or crowd on your patio, the Jumbo Old Smokey can handle it. The Jumbo will cost you around $70.

There are dozens of other brands and models of charcoal grills, but these examples should give you an idea of what you need to get started on your grilling adventure. So slide open those balcony doors, step out onto the patio or porch and get all fired up.
